On May 21st, 2010, Passed on to the other side while refueling a truck at the Anoka County-Blaine airport. He learned to fly with his father, John and planned on getting his private pilots license in the summer of 2010. Patrick mentioned many times he felt privileged to be able to learn how to fly when other students his age did not have the same opportunity. He and John had a dream of offering an introductory aviation class in the WBLAS and eventually, other high schools in the state of Minnesota.
